Many of the developers at Silver Standard Studios are fans of that style of party game where floppy characters whack each other around. So when Whimsical Wizardry was pitched, it was a clear choice for our first game to develop! None of us, however, wanted to *be* Gang Beasts, or *be* Party Animals, we just wanted to draw inspiration from that genre of game.
So where did that lead us?
Well, isn’t it obvious?
Casting spells as the main form of combat sets us apart in style from the other floppy party brawlers. But that extends past just the visual style! Having a more ranged focus than other games in the genre changes the flow of the game, makes it feel different to play.
That being said, the idea of wizards ignoring casting and just whacking each other with wands is still hilarious! So much so that we still included it in our game, though it’s far less of a focus than spells are.
While still in development, we think these unique aspects really set Whimsical Wizardry apart from the genre, and we think players will enjoy a unique experience that not many games can offer!
Looks like hilarious fun!
